I struggled trying to come up with a name for this guild for many weeks, lots of things came and went. In the end I settled on Perseid. After so much contemplation there must be reasons behind the selection. In fact there are.
First of all the Perseid meteor showers in August are the most intense and active meteor showers each year.
Secondly the Perseid meteor showers are named so because the seem to originate from the constellation Perseus. Perseus was the Greek hero that slew the monster Medusa. He did not accomplish this feat on his own he had the aid of the gods Hermes and Athena. Hermes gave him a pair of winged sandals and Athena a bronze shield. The story goes that Perseus flew down upon Medusa with the sandals and since looking upon Medusa turned men to stone Perseus instead looked upon her in the reflection of the shield so he could behead her with his mighty sword.
How does that relate to you? I see all members of this guild as intense in their dedication towards the advancement of each other and the guild. We also bring many different tools to complement and aid each other in our endeavors, much like Hermes and Athena did for Perseus. Finally we are cunning and innovative always finding some way to overcome our obstacles the way that Perseus used the shield's reflection.
This is what embodies everyone here, champions of Perseus and defenders of Azeroth. You are Perseids, you will be victorious. |
