I am making an pc mmo/console game thread for us to discuss anything mmo/console.

I will start with saying, since I have quit playing WoW, I really have been taking an interest in my consoles again. I have been playing Uncharted: Drakes Fortune(PS3), an I am looking forward to playing Uncharted 2(PS3).

For my fellow jrpg fans an fans of Square Enix, I noticed that SE released a new Star Ocean game, its called STAR OCEAN: THE LAST HOPE, its only out for the Xbox360, has anyone played this game? I have read some mixed reviews, but I am looking for a really good jrpg to get me to the new Final Fanasy release.

Also for those eagerly awaiting SW:TOR to come out, they added a new vid to their facebook page,
The Return of the Mandalorians
. They haven't released any game play footage yet, but they have some of the worlds already finished and the devs had some peeps from the company testing out the trooper class. So they do have something already out coming together.

I cant wait for this game, I just want to see some vids of game play, I also hope that I get into closed Beta.

--

Ok for those SW:TOR fans eagerly awaiting its release, there is some in game vids out there already, some are on youtube. The game is further along than they are letting out, I get excited reading all this new stuff I read, here is a little taste. I might be working on getting a SW:TOR forum set up so us fanatics of the Universe can go there for our fix until the game comes out. Here is a little taste, of what a writer for PC gamer thinks about his little taste of being allowed to play the working game. Also take note they have a working server set up so the devs can play from home how awesome is that.

“The Sith is an action-point class. Do you play many MMO games?”
“A few.”
“So he plays a bit like the rogu... oh, you’ve got it.”

At that point, with the help of BioWare’s Rich Vogel, we’re knee deep in Republic corpses, taking down wave after wave of plastic-clad troopers. Our Sith character is deflecting their blaster fire with his lightsaber while we come to grips with his abilities. He earns points by swiping and smashing; he can then spend them on finishing moves. We Force-choke one foe, hanging him by his neck, watching his legs writhe in pain. As he drops to the floor, trying to catch his breath, we turn away and slide a lightsaber into his ribs.
Even at this early stage, The Old Republic is as polished, as playable and as slick as... that other major MMO. Why? How? Because BioWare Austin, the studio responsible, have paid attention to the details from the very start. And their ambition seems limitless. They want to make an MMORPG that encapsulates the essence of their single-player games: a true online sequel to classics like Knights of the Old Republic and Baldur’s Gate. They want to make a game with proficient, modern production values, fully voiced cutscenes and multi-threaded conversations. They want to reduce the grind – removing the tedious fetch 10 and kill 20 quests that plague the genre – and tie everything into their story. They want to introduce genuine consequence, giving parties of players the kind of moral choices their single-player games have become famous for. Except that in this world, there are no save games, no chances to go back and see what might have happened.

Right now, this is the most exciting game in development. As the aforementioned Force-choked trooper slides to the floor, clutching his chest, a horrifying truth becomes apparent: The Old Republic is a credible World of Warcraft killer.
What’s extraordinary is just how playable it is, even at this stage. BioWare have been playing with the working game for months, and are now smoothing the myriad details into a workable whole. “We didn’t want to show the game until there was something playable,” says studio co-director Rich Vogel. “We didn’t even want to announce the game until we had something.” And, as it turns out, the huge Austin studio has already created plenty. “The game is playable. We have a server up and running, we can play the game at home.”

drool. I'm going to have to try this.

also the only console I have access to is a Wii :3 I recently finished Twilight Princess (awesome!) and am working on Paper Mario RPG (some nice throwbacks but often tedious).

I love the Paper Mario series, it was a good successor to Mario RPG.

Having recently gone on break, I've been thinking about doing that as well. I've got the Wii and I think what I'm going to do is start with Legend of Zelda and work my way through the entire series. That's the goal anyways.

Also, been playing SimCity 4 recently. There's something wonderful about constructing a beautiful city filled with all sorts of Museums and Schools and Publicly Funded Healthcare (Yes, SimCity is Socialist ) and then watching it all burn

simcity 4 rocks! I cant seem to get it to work on my computer though which sucks.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to some RPGs. There's one by Obsidian coming out called Alpha Protocol, and of course there is always Mass Effect 2 coming out soon which looks spectacular. I would love to get my hands on Halo:ODST but if its 60 dollars I may hold off on that. There's a few more console games I am hyped about I'll have to look them up sometime.

Some games I am currently playing are...

Fallout 3 (Been playin for months and still not close to finishing)

GoW2 (Horde Mode with friends over rocks)

NBA 2k9

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2

I have a ton of console games but I usually play them on and off switching between a few every couple months or so.

I tried Prototype for PS3 the other day at Hess' house, I have to say that if you like sandbox action games (think GTA with super powers), PLAY THIS GAME!!! Its so violent and horrible graphic that you can't help but feel satisfied.

Also tried Infamous, basically the same thing but instead of physical weapon superpowers, you get lighting abilities. However, it throws in the KOTOR/Fable 2 good/evil system, which affects how people interact with you, your appearance, and even the properties of your abilities.

I've been replaying Halo 3 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for my 360. Those are always good staples.

So has any of the Final Fantasy Fanatics seen the Disssidia game coming out? I know most are waiting for FF13 or FFvs13, but this looks like a really cool game, only drawback is its for the PSP, I have one but many dont an I dont see many buying one just for this game.

Also for us PS3 fanbois, has anyone seen or heard about DC Universe Online, its an MMOAG. Its interesting that DC is making an MMO that is action based set in the DC universe. It will have PvP, PvE, an stuff. Also Arkham Asylum will be an instance in the game. Looks interesting to say the least, I am wondering if they will have a sub for this game, I hope not, I would like to make a super villian an pwn peeps but not for 15 bucks a month.

A little demo on how questing works in DCUO, looks kinda kewl, I also hear its available for the PC, and PC an PS3 users both will be able to play on the same servers. Hopefully this is not an addicting game but more a really fun game that brings us back to our youth. BTW look for the video on Doomsday, they did an incredible job adding the comic book story line into the actual game.

IGN Daily Fix 7/10/09!

Heh for you Genesis gamers that remember MJs game Moonwalker, MJJ Studios was working on a game before his passing that will use his voice in the game, production is still on going.

So I pulled out Fable 2 to give it another go since I couldn't finish it because I was beta testing several MMOs, and I started out trying to be really good, but it was soo hard to stay the path. I also tried a female toon this go round and she just got married to another female, WEWT for Lesbian marriages, an /clap at the devs for putting it in the game an not worrying about people complaining about same sex marriages.

So I already met the first 2 Heros and am trying to raise my renown to talk to the 3rd Hero. I also couldnt resist and I slept with a prostitute, an my wife cuaght me, lol. So far so good Fable 2 has been an adventure. I have laughed so hard in a while, while playing a videogame.

Fable 2 get it if you havent its a blast.

I just fired up FF6 this weekend. I never finished it so I thought I'd give it another go.

On a different note, and perhaps not right on topic, Mechwarrior is raising it's head again. It's the 25 year anniversary so they're releasing MW4 and it's xpacks for free download. There's also another one in the works.

Gonna need a new video card I think...
